Avery at two weeks old...

Thursday, December 10, 2009

We had a number of visits right after Avery was born (in the case of Heidi, she flew in from Seattle about 4 hours after she was born). It was amazing having Heidi and Bryan (Bapa) and Nancy (Nana) in town, and we could be more grateful for their generosity and servanthood during their visits. My mom has also been incredible watching Ellis and our dog Otis while we were in the hospital and keeping us sane during this transitional time. In fact, we have been overwhelmed by everyone's generosity to us and Avery, from multiple workplace baby showers, MPPC dinners this week, a new swing set for Ellis by his Bapa, and far too many instances of incredible generosity these last few weeks. We are a truly blessed family and blessed to be part of such a great community far and near...Thank you to all...George, Heather, Ellis and Avery

I somehow was able to convince Heather to agree to a photoshoot days before Avery Makena was born...Here are the photos....

Right after Thanksgiving and days before Avery Makena made her grand entrance, we were fortunate enough to get together with family to catch up and once again enjoy Millbrae Pancake House's famous swedish pancakes. Rick and Liz and their kids were down from Seattle with Debby in town to celebrate the holiday and a milestone birthday.

Ellis just celebrated his second birthday! Crazy how time flies..Ellis was very excited about his cake and "turning TWO"...In fact, his age doubled in just one year...We had a small family outing at a nearby park in San Carlos that was nearly cancelled with rain drops at the start...we were all grateful that the rain ended up passing...We were also fortunate to have Ellis' Grandma visiting from Washington...
Notice the turtle birthday cake below...it was made by the incredibly talented and 8 month pregnant Heather...Not only did it look great, but it tasted great as well...Nice job Heather...Ellis, Happy Birthday buddy! love, your parents...

We had the good fortune of having the White Family visit a number of weeks ago and had a great time catching up with Greg, Annette and Maddie. It was great time of hanging out, and some hilarious things took place as well...One of the funny things is that there are people (I am withholding names to protect the guilty) who hold the opinion that Ellis and Maddie may end up in holy matrimony some day, but I can tell you for sure that it was not settled based on this weekend and the photos that follow...See for yourself...To say the least, Ellis did not really warm to the idea of a future spouse based on one weekend...Enjoy...george and heather

We recently took Ellis and his Abuela (grandmother) to the Monterey Aquarium. It was Ellis' first trip to the Aquarium and he greatly enjoyed seeing all of the "Ishies" (fishes). It is all he talks about now, even a few weeks after the visit. At the aquarium we were fortunate enough to be able to see one of the only known Great White Sharks in captivity. A truly amazing animal. All in all, it was a fun outing and one that Ellis will not forget for some time...enjoy the photos...

Mystery writer Jeffrey Deaver recently did a reading of his new book "Roadside Crosses" at our nearby library (Belmont) and I had a chance to meet him (as well as Heather and Ellis). If you are at all interested in mystery writing, he writes some great and compelling stories...Side note and one that you are undoubtedly thinking, I have a really large head or cranium in comparison to Mr. Deaver...
